2018 Canadian all-around champion René Cournoyer of Repentigny, QC dominated the competition in the men’s vault final, securing the gold medal with a score of 14.150.

“Today went really well! I did the same passes as in qualification but had a much better execution today,” said Cournoyer. “I’m satisfied, I had an excellent routine overall.”

In the men’s high bar final, it was Samuel Zakutney of Ottawa, ON who came away with the silver medal with a score of 13.500.

Justin Karstadt of Toronto, ON captured the bronze medal in the pommel horse final. His score of 13.350 tied with the gymnast from Azerbaijan, but Karstadt’s higher execution score gave him the advantage and put him on the podium.

“I’m very pleased with how this weekend went,” said Karstadt. “I was grateful for the opportunity to compete in my first world cup, and by earning a medal, I achieved more than I had hoped for. There were a lot of accomplished gymnasts in both my pommel horse and parallel bars finals, so it was an honour competing in both.”
