Canadian Acrobatic and Rhythmic Gymnasts Descend on Daytona Beach for Pan American Championships

OTTAWA, ON (October 10, 2017) – Gymnastics Canada is pleased to announce the athletes, coaches, and judges that will represent Canada in acrobatic and rhythmic gymnastics at the 2017 Pan American Championships in Daytona Beach, USA from October 10-16.

In total, there will be 29 team members from acrobatic gymnastics, and 21 from rhythmic gymnastics. This is the first time that Gymnastics Canada has formally selected a national team to represent Canada in acrobatic gymnastics.

“The sport of acrobatic gymnastics is quite new for the majority of the Pan American countries so it will be an exciting opportunity for our athletes to compete against other federations who like us, are still building their acro programs domestically,” said Meredith Warner, manager of sport development at Gymnastics Canada. “We are looking forward to a number of podium finishes for our team at the event, and to gaining a lot of experience that will enable us to build our acro program.”

“Every competition is a new opportunity for our athletes to build on past successes and for others to put disappointments behind them and to start fresh. Our rhythmic athletes will be looking to compete each of their routines with full confidence and to perform up to their capabilities. If they can do this, the results will follow,” said Teresa Orr, national team director for rhythmic gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada.
