Ottawa, ON (June 18, 2026) — Canada’s senior men’s artistic gymnastics team made history on July 17th, by winning the gold medal in the team competition at the 2026 Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Canadian team of René Cournoyer, Xavier Olasz, William Émard, Félix Dolci and Jordan Carroll scored a total of 243.026 to finish ahead of Colombia (241.594) and the United States (235.961), securing Canada’s first-ever men’s team title at the Pan American Championships.
On the women’s side, Canada’s senior team of Lia Redick, Lia-Monica Fontaine, Gabrielle Black, Aurélie Tran and Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte also delivered a strong performance, earning the bronze medal with a score of 156.997. The Canadian women finished behind the United States, which claimed the Pan American title with 161.628 points, and host nation Brazil, which took silver with 157.796.
As a result of their performances in the team competition, both the Canadian men’s and women’s teams secured qualification spots for the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, set to take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from October 17–25.
Canada will also be well represented in the upcoming individual finals, with several athletes advancing to the all-around and apparatus finals.
