Ottawa, ON (July 24, 2026) — Canada’s Men’s Artistic Gymnastics team captures gold in the Men’s Team Final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, marking the country’s first Commonwealth team title in 20 years. Competing at the Glasgow International Arena, the Canadian men’s team delivered an outstanding performance, posting a winning score of 241.400 to stand on top the podium.
Representing Team Canada were Jordan Carroll (SK), René Cournoyer (QC), Félix Dolci (QC), William Émard (QC) and Ethan Ikeda (BC). The five Canadian athletes showcased consistency and composure across all six apparatus to secure the Commonwealth Games title.
Individually, Canada’s athletes delivered several standout performances throughout the competition. On vault, Dolci led the Canadian team with a score of 14.200 after an outstanding handspring double front half, while Cournoyer earned 13.850 with a powerful handspring double front. Jordan Carroll also delivered the performance of a lifetime on pommel horse, scoring 14.550 to finish ahead of the reigning Olympic champion on the apparatus and secure his place in the apparatus final. On rings, William Émard scored a 13.850 following a superb routine highlighted by clean handstands and a controlled dismount. Ethan Ikeda capped his ring routine with a stuck double-double dismount to contribute valuable points to Canada’s historic gold-medal performance.
“It was a very exciting competition from beginning to end. The athletes are very happy about their performances, they have been working hard for this result, they were expecting this result and to finally deliver is an amazing feeling” said Jean-Sébastien Tougas, team coach.
Félix Dolci and William Émard led Canada’s all-around effort, qualifying for the Men’s All-Around Final in first and fifth place, respectively. Dolci topped the qualification standings with a score of 81.650, while Émard advanced with 78.850 following consistent performances across all six apparatus.
Canada also secured an impressive number of apparatus final spots. Dolci qualified first on both vault (14.100) and horizontal bar (14.250), while Émard topped the rings standings with a score of 13.850. On floor exercise, Félix Dolci and René Cournoyer advanced in second and third place, respectively, with scores of 13.700 and 13.500. Jordan Carroll earned a place in the pommel horse final after qualifying second with 14.550, while Dolci was named third reserve on his apparatus with a score of 12.750. Émard and Dolci also advanced to the parallel bars final in fourth and sixth place, respectively, with scores of 13.650 and 13.550. William Émard will join Félix Dolci in the horizontal bar final after qualifying third with 13.500.
The Men’s All-Around Final will take place on Sunday, July 26 at 7:00 AM ET, followed by the apparatus finals on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28, beginning at 8:00 AM ET on both days.
Attention now turns to Canada’s Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team, who will begin competition on Saturday, July 25 in the Team Final and Individual Qualifications. Ellie Black (NS), Gabrielle Black (ON), Lia-Monica Fontaine (QC), Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte (QC) and Lia Redick (ON) will representTeam Canada in Subdivision 4, with competition beginning at 10:45 AM ET.
