A message from our CEO
Message from the Board
As President of Gymnastics Canada’s Board of Directors, it is my great honor to reflect on a remarkable year for our organization. First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes who represented Canada on the international stage this year. Your outstanding performances on the world stage have inspired us all and demonstrated the incredible talent and dedication within our gymnastics community. Your achievements are a testament to the hard work, resilience, and passion that define GymCan, and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of you.
This fiscal year ending on March 31, 2024 has also been a period of significant growth and change for Gymnastics Canada. We welcomed a new Director of Safe Sport and CEO, both of whom bring essential experience and vision to our organization. These key leaders underscore our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our athletes, coaches, and all members of the gymnastics community. As we move forward, we are guided by our newly established values of Excellence, Fairness, Connection, and Safety. These values are more than just words; they are the foundation upon which we will build the future of GymCan, ensuring that we uphold the highest standards in everything we do.
None of this progress would be possible without the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers. Your commitment to our mission and your passion for gymnastics are the driving forces behind our success. Whether you are working behind the scenes or on the field of play, your contributions are invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do.
Together, we have achieved so much this year, and I am excited for what lies ahead as we continue to support and elevate the sport of gymnastics in Canada.
Kind Regards,
Wendy Smith

- Uniting People through Gymnaestrada. The collaboration between Gymnastics Saskatchewan and an Indigenous group did not just produce a unique routine for World Gymnaestrada audiences but also offered a heartening example of sport’s capacity to bring people together. Their performance was titled ‘(Re)Creating Community’ and the involvement of the Indigenous group was sparked by an invitation they received to open the Provincial Gymnaestrada in Regina in 2021. The two coaches see it as their way of responding to the Calls of Action laid down by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
- Manitoba Fusion offered a nod to the Indigenous peoples by performing to the music of Jerry Cans – a group who mix traditional Inuit throat singing and folk rock sung in the Indigenous language of Inuktitut.
