Gymnastics Canada (GymCan), Unigym Gatineau and Gymnastique Québec are excited to declare the 2024 Canadian Gymnastics Championships a True Sport Event! From May 23 to June 9, the city of Gatineau will play host to this national event, promising spectacular gymnastic competitions in a variety of disciplines.
Through this commitment to True Sport, GymCan, Unigym Gatineau and Gymnastique Québec encourage athletes, coaches, judges, parents, volunteers, and spectators to bring the True Sport Principles (Go For It, Play Fair, Respect Others, Keep It Fun, Stay Healthy, Include Everyone, and Give Back) to life through their actions, thereby making a statement about the kind of gymnastic experience they want to be a part of.
There are many ways True Sport will be visible throughout the Championships. The event will include True Sport oaths for athletes, coaches, judges and parents to publicly pledge their commitment to True Sport. True Sport Principles banners will be displayed throughout the venues to raise awareness of the seven principles and serve as a reminder of the behaviour that is expected during each competition. In addition, all participants and the gymnastics community watching from afar are encouraged to use the hashtag #TrueSportMoments to celebrate moments they have witnessed that exemplify the values of fairness, excellence, inclusion and fun. An on-site True Sport booth will be equipped with resources and all participants are encouraged to visit the booth to learn more about how they can activate True Sport within their sphere of influence.
The 2024 Canadian Gymnastics Championships will be held in Gatineau according to the following program:
- Rhythmic Gymnastics: May 23 to 26 at the Centre sportif de Gatineau
- Artistic Gymnastics: June 5 to 9 at the Centre Slush Puppie
- Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics: June 6 to 9 at the Complexe Branchaud-Brière
