Canadian Gymnaestrada Brings Gymnastics for All to Regina

Ottawa, ON (June 30, 2026) — More than 600 participants from across Canada will gather in Regina, Saskatchewan, from June 30 to July 4 for the 2026 Canadian Gymnaestrada. Held every four years, the Canadian Gymnaestrada brings together participants of all ages and abilities to celebrate movement, creativity, inclusion, and the joy of gymnastics.

Unlike traditional competitions, Gymnaestrada is a festival-style event where groups perform for one another, participate in educational workshops, build friendships, and share ideas in an inspiring and collaborative environment. Often referred to as the “Coachella of gymnastics,” the event will transform Regina into a vibrant celebration of movement, with performances throughout the city, community activities, and opportunities for participants to connect both on and off the performance floor. The 2026 edition is expected to welcome over 600 participants ranging in age from 8 to over 80.

City performances will take place at Wascana Park, while indoor performances will be held at the Brandt Centre.

As a non-competitive event, the Canadian Gymnaestrada uses adjudicators rather than judges, emphasizing constructive feedback rather than scores. This year’s adjudication panel features Yvonne Tousek-Renne, Creative Director at Cirque du Soleil, alongside internationally recognized Gymnastics for All expert Marco Bortoleto of Brazil, who will provide expert feedback to participating groups.

Participation at this event is mandatory for groups who want to be part of Canada’s delegation for the 2027 World Gymnaestrada in Lisbon, Portugal. Traditionally, approximately 90 percent of Canadian participants go on to represent Canada at the international festival.

The Canadian festival kicks off on July 1 with an Opening Ceremony, City performances, a welcome BBQ, and Canada Day celebrations. Participants will then take part in educational workshops on July 2 before returning to the performance floor for two days of indoor performances on July 3 and 4. The event concludes with the closing showcase, celebrating the creativity, collaboration, and passion that defines Canadian Gymnaestrada.
