Ottawa, ON (November 10, 2025) – The Canadian trampoline team stood out in the finals at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships, held on November 8 and 9. Canada captured a bronze medal thanksto an exceptional performance by Sophiane Méthot, who shone in a highly competitive final.

Sophiane Méthot Returns to the World Podium

Eight years after earning her first World Championship medal during her senior debut in 2017, Sophiane Méthot returned to the world podium, securing the bronze medal in women’s individual trampoline with a score of 56.810. In Spain, she delivered an exemplary routine, highlighted by a perfect horizontal displacement score of 10.0 — a rare and remarkable feat in this discipline, where precision and stability are paramount. This bronze medal underscores Méthot’s dedication, perseverance, and consistency, reaffirming her status as one of the leading figures in international trampoline gymnastics.

“Overall, I’m really happy with my performances — they exceeded my expectations. I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t do as well in synchro, but I’m glad that we were able to qualify Canada for the Women’s Trampoline Team Final. Getting a 10 in Horizonal Displacement is rare in trampoline, so I was surprised to see that and especially thrilled with my new personal best,” said Sophiane Méthot.

Strong Performances from the Canadian Team

Other members of the Canadian delegation also showcased their skills on the international stage in their respective finals.

In men’s tumbling, Jared Matthews achieved a historic result, finishing fifth with a score of 27.600 — the best placement ever recorded by a Canadian male athlete at a Trampoline World Championships. In women’s double mini-trampoline, Kayla Howell continued to impress, securing seventh place with a score of 26.000 and demonstrating steady progress among the world’s elite.
