Ottawa, ON (August 11, 2025) – The 2025 World Games have come to a close for the gymnastics disciplines and Team Canada returns home with two bronze medals in trampoline gymnastics, courtesy of outstanding performances by Gavin Dodd in Men’s Double-Mini Trampoline and the Women’s Synchronized Trampoline duo of Sophiane Méthot and Sarah Milette.

In his first World Games appearance, Gavin Dodd competed in Men’s Double-Mini Trampoline. Dodd opened the competition with two exceptional passes, earning 58.000 and securing the top spot after qualifications. His semi-final score of 28.600 placed him third and advanced him to the bronze medal final against Australian Troy Sitkowski. Delivering a strong final pass for 29.000, Dodd claimed his place on the podium.

“Overall, the World Games was an incredible experience. Being in a big multi-sport event with so many people coming out to watch was amazing, and being out on the competition floor with so many spectacular athletes is always an honour,” said Dodd.

In the Women’s Double-Mini Trampoline, Gabriella Flynn impressed in qualifications with a score of 46.800, placing fourth and advancing to the semi-finals. A well-executed pass in the semi-finals (27.000) earned her a spot in the bronze medal final. Despite a clean routine in the final, Flynn narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth behind Spain’s Melania Rodriguez, whose higher difficulty secured her third place. This was Flynn’s second World Games as she competed in the 2022 Birmingham World Games and came in 7th place.

Méthot and Milette delivered Canada’s second medal in Women’s Synchronized Trampoline. After scoring 48.480 in qualifications and advancing in fourth place, a missed routine in the semi-finals sent them to the bronze medal final against Great Britain’s Isabelle Songhurst and Bryony Page. In an electrifying showdown, the Canadians posted 47.740, edging their opponents by just 0.010 to clinch the bronze.

“The World Games experience was really enjoyable, with the village reminding me of Paris a year ago. Our performance exceeded our expectations; the medal wasn’t expected, so it’s truly a wonderful surprise. The final was so strong and close, we were happy to be part of those high-level routines.” said Méthot.

“We had a very good experience at the World Games. It was a new competition for us, and I’m very happy to have taken part! The atmosphere in the competition gym was amazing. The final was very close, and I’m very proud that we managed to finish 3rd in such a high-calibre final.” added Milette.
