OTTAWA, ON (November 13th, 2024) – WAG and MAG Canadian athletes collected multiple podium and top finishes at international competitions from November 6th – 10th 2024.
Memorial Arturo Gander – Balerna, Switzerland
Felix Dolci shined on the international stage, securing a podium finish at the Memorial Arturo Gander competition held at The Palapenz in Balerna, Switzerland. With a score of 55.850, Dolci captured the silver medal in the men’s all-around event.
Dolci also earned the following places in the individual apparatus:
- Floor – 5th with a score of 13.850
- Rings – 2nd with a score of 13.650
- Vault – 4th with a score of 14.300
- Horizontal Bar – 1st with a score of 14.050
Gympies Gymnova Cup – Keerbergen, Belgium
7 Canadian Athletes travelled to Keerbergen, Belgium to compete in the senior, junior, and novice competitions at the Gympies Gymnova Cup.
All-Around and Team Finals
Canada’s gymnasts delivered impressive performances across multiple categories at the recent Gympies Gymnova Cup. In the senior all-around finals, Victorianne Charron led the Canadian team, finishing 8th with a score of 47.167, followed by Evandra Zlobec in 11th with 46.533. Madison Hajjar and Laurie Denommée placed 28th and 30th, scoring 37.000 and 25.000, respectively.
In the junior all-around finals, Lindsey Corbett claimed 7th place with a score of 45.667, while in the novice division, Maryam Saber won silver with an impressive score of 46.750. Liviane Charron just missed the podium, finishing 4th with 44.767.
Highlighting Canada’s team strength, GymCan secured the gold medal in the team all-around finals, finishing with a top score of 143.233. Contributing to this victory were team members Liviane Charron (novice), Maryam Saber (novice), Lindsey Corbett (junior), Victorianne Charron (senior), and Evandra Zlobec (senior).
Individual Apparatus Finals
Laurie Denommée delivered a strong performance in the senior uneven bars final, capturing a silver medal with a score of 13.367. In the senior floor final, Evandra Zlobec placed 5th with a score of 12.350, while Denommée ranked 12th with 11.550.
Maryam Saber took the top spot in the novice vault final, winning gold with a score of 12.933. Victorianne Charron also made the podium in the novice balance beam finals, earning silver with a score of 12.667. Saber finishing 11th with a score of 10.167.
XXVIIIth Tournoi International Combs la Ville – Combs-La-Ville, France
5 Canadian athletes travelled to Combs-La-Ville, France to compete in the women’s artistic gymnastics novice and junior competitions.
Team Results
Carlaya Millin and Mackenzie Grant competed in the novice team all-around and finished 11th with a team score of 87.050.
Samantha Couture, Autumn Brown, and Abby Schmidt competed in the junior team all-around and finished in 7th place with a team score of 93.898.
Individual Results
In the novice individual all-around, Millin finished in 18th place with a score of 45.000, while Grant followed in 35th with 42.050.
In the junior individual all-around, Schmidt led the Canadian juniors by securing 15th place with a score of 46.932. Couture placed closely behind in 16th with 46.699, and Brown completed the lineup in 24th with 43.599.
Bringing home Canada’s sole medal from France, Samantha Couture delivered a stellar performance in the balance beam finals, earning the silver medal with a score of 13.033.
