Ottawa, ON (November 25, 2025) – Gymnastics Canada is pleased to announce the promotion of Jenny Trew to the position of Senior Director, High Performance, effective immediately.
Jenny emerged as the top candidate following an extensive external search that began in July 2025 and was led by a five-member selection committee. Her appointment was further endorsed by incoming Gymnastics Canada CEO Debra Armstrong following a final interview.
Jenny joined Gymnastics Canada in October 2023 as Program Manager, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG). She was promoted to Interim Program Director in November 2024, and the interim title was formally lifted in July 2025. Prior to joining GymCan, Jenny served as Lead Track Endurance Coach at Cycling Canada, where she was also a National Team member and professional cyclist. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria.
In her new role, Jenny will report directly to the CEO. High-performance discipline leads Greg Jackson (MAG), Karen Cockburn (TG), Teresa Orr (RG), and Tammy Younker (Coordinator, High Performance) will report to her. Until a replacement is recruited for her current position, Jenny will continue to oversee WAG with support from Wyatt Barnsley (Coordinator, High Performance).
In early 2026, Jenny will also lead the recruitment of a Sports Science & Medicine Manager (SSSM), a key role aligned with the new GymCan Win+ Strategy.
“Jenny brings an exceptional combination of leadership, technical expertise, and cross-sport high-performance experience,” said Michael Downey, interim CEO. “Her successful transition from cycling to gymnastics, along with her understanding of our high-performance structure, positions her to provide vital continuity, support strong team preparation for LA28, and effectively onboard the next WAG Program Director.”
“I am truly excited to step into this role and build on the momentum of the new Win+ Strategy. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with so many dedicated and passionate people across Canadian gymnastics, and I look forward to strengthening those relationships as we move into this next phase. I look forward to collaborating with our athletes, coaches, judges, and staff as we continue to elevate our high-performance programs and support the long-term success of GymCan on the path to LA28 and beyond”, said Jenny Trew.
Gymnastics Canada congratulates Jenny on this well-deserved promotion and looks forward to her continued leadership.
