Gymnastics Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Ross-McManus as Program Director, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), effective April 13, 2026.

A highly respected leader within the Canadian sport system, Heather brings a wealth of experience across high performance sport, coaching, and long-term athlete development. A former Olympic trampoline gymnast, she represented Canada at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where she achieved a sixth-place finish, and competed at multiple World Championships throughout her career.

Following her competitive career, Heather has made a significant impact as a coach, leader, and sport system builder. Her experience includes serving as Long-Term Development Advisor for Gymnastics Canada, High Performance Director with Freestyle Ontario, Director of Quality Sport and Interim Executive Director at Ottawa Gymnastics Centre. Her unique background, bridging multiple disciplines and high-performance environments, positions her to lead the continued growth and success of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics in Canada.

“Heather brings an exceptional blend of high-performance expertise, system leadership, and athlete-centered vision,” said Jenny Trew, Senior Director, High Performance at Gymnastics Canada. “Her experience as an Olympian, combined with her leadership across gymnastics and freestyle sport systems, makes her an outstanding fit to guide the future of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics in Canada.”

Heather will officially begin in her role on April 13, 2026, and will join the national team and GymCan staff at the upcoming training camp the following week.

Gymnastics Canada looks forward to the leadership, collaboration, and vision Heather will bring to the WAG program, and to working closely with the community as we continue to support athletes and coaches on the path to international success.
