With profound sadness, Gymnastics Canada joins Gymnastics Québec in mourning the loss of André Simard.

A passionate and accomplished athlete, Simard was a three-time Canadian Champion and proudly represented Canada at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. His love for gymnastics and boundless creativity led him to co-found the National Circus School and contributed to over 15 productions with Cirque du Soleil.

In the words of Gymnastics Quebec, “Andre Simard leaves behind a rich and inspiring legacy, his influence will continue to be felt throughout the generations of artists he has trained and the innovations he has brought to the world of gymnastics and circus. We will remember him as a visionary, creator and a friend.”

On behalf of the Gymnastics Canada community, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.
