The GymCan Content Creator Program

Purpose

The GymCan Content Creator Program is designed to provide current or recently graduated collegiate and elite gymnasts with hands-on experience in Photography, Videography, and Editorial Writing. This initiative aims to offer unique media opportunities for upcoming GymCan National Events 

Event Coverage

  • May 26 – 30, 2025: Canadian Championships – Olympic Oval – Calgary, AB

Selected creators will receive a Gymnastics Canada credential, granting access to key event areas such as the competition floor, training area, and mixed zone where applicable. Creators are required to adhere to all Gymnastics Canada media restrictions and Safe Sport requirements. 

Category Descriptions

Photography – Capture stunning images of Canada’s top gymnasts in action. As a credentialed photographer, you will have access to the competition floor to document the event from podium training through to the medal ceremonies. Content may be featured on Gymnastics Canada’s social media and website. 

Videography – Craft compelling short-form videos for Instagram Reels. Get exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from podium training to medal moments and edit engaging content that showcases the best of Canadian gymnastics. Work collaboratively with Gymnastics Canada’s media team to amplify your content.

Editorial Writing – Provide insightful event coverage through written articles and athlete interviews. Whether you have experience writing for publications or have your own blog, this is an opportunity to cover elite-level gymnastics from the press tribune and mixed zone. Articles may be published on the Gymnastics Canada website and social media.

Application Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • A current or recently retired Canadian elite gymnast competing in one of the following disciplines: WAG, MAG, TG, RG, or ACRO 
  • Current or former NCAA gymnast
  • Demonstrate interest and experience in one of the following areas: Photography, Videography or Editorial Writing
  • Passionate about content creation and storytelling in the field of gymnastics
  • Must be able to create and share content on personal social channels and collaborate with Gymnastics Canada, who will retain rights to usage.

Additional Details

  • This is an unpaid opportunity
  • GymCan will cover reasonable travel expenses (creators must be in driving distance of the competition venue)
  • Bilingualism is a strong asset 
  • A letter of reference can be provided upon request
