Ottawa, ON (June 25, 2026) — Canada marked a historic milestone in acrobatic gymnastics as the senior trio of Avelyn Chu, Katherine Sutherland and Chloe Fiore represented the country at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Rzeszów, Poland, from June 19 to 21, 2026.
Competing in the senior category, Chu, Sutherland, and Fiore became the first Canadian senior trio in history to compete at a World Cup event. They competed two solid routines and gained great experience as they continue their preparation for the upcoming World Championships in Pesaro, Italy from September 24-27, 2026.
The trio scored a 27.060 in the balance qualification, which was the 6th highest qualification score and scored a 26.020 in their dynamic qualification which placed them 13th. They finished the competition in 11th place.
“Competing at the World Cup was an incredible experience. My trio has only been together for two years, and this was our first international competition together, so it meant a lot to me and I’m really grateful for the opportunity. I really enjoyed watching all the amazing athletes from around the world, and I’m proud that we were able to perform our routines to the best of our ability,” said Avelyn Chu.
The event provided the athletes with valuable international experience as they continue to grow as a team and prepare for future competitions.
“I had an amazing experience at the World Cup this past week. Seeing the level of excellence displayed by other teams has inspired our trio to push harder and improve before our next competition. Overall, we are so grateful to have had this opportunity, and I truly believe we put our best routines out on the floor,” said Katherine Sutherland.
For Chloe Fiore, the competition was both a proud moment and an important learning opportunity.
“Competing at my first World Cup was an incredible experience. Although we didn’t make the final, I’m really proud of my trio and how we performed. It was a great learning experience that motivated me to work even harder for future competitions. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Canada and compete against so many talented athletes from around the world,” said Fiore.
The trio’s participation marks an important step forward for Canadian acrobatic gymnastics on the international stage as they now shift their focus to the upcoming World Championships.
