Competition Recap – Cairo, Egypt April 25th to 28th 2025

OTTAWA, ON (April 28, 2025) – Canada’s women’s artistic gymnastics team delivered standout performances at the FIG Apparatus World Cup, held April 25–28 at Cairo International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt. 

The Canadian Senior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team delivered a strong showing during the individual apparatus qualifications at the FIG Apparatus World Cup in Cairo. Veteran gymnast Rose Woo returned to international competition, representing Canada on Floor and Balance Beam following her standout performance at the EnBW DTB Pokal Cup. Tegan Shaver made her 2025 season and world cup debut, competing on all four apparatuses in her first appearance for Team Canada this year. Also making a highly anticipated return was 2024 Paris Olympian Ellie Black, who represented Canada on Vault and Uneven Bars. 

Qualifications 

In the qualifications, Rose Woo and Tegan Shaver secured spots in the Floor final, finishing 4th and 8th with scores of 12.666 and 11.700, respectively. On Vault, Ellie Black and Shaver advanced to the finals after strong performances, placing 3rd (13.183) and 4th (13.099). Both athletes also qualified for the Uneven Bars final, with Black finishing 6th (12.266) and Shaver 7th (12.100). Rounding out a strong qualifying effort, Rose Woo earned her place in the Balance Beam final with an impressive 2nd-place finish and a score of 12.733. 

Finals 

Over the final two days of competition, the Canadian Senior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team competed in all four apparatus finals, delivering strong performances across the board. 

Floor Exercise – Rose Woo placed 5th with a score of 12.466, while teammate Tegan Shaver finished 7th with a score of 11.600. 

Vault – Ellie Black delivered a standout performance to claim gold with a final score of 13.616. Teagan Shaver also impressed, finishing 5th with a score of 13.050. 

Uneven Bars – Both Shaver and Black competed in the uneven bars final, where they finished 6th with 12.300 and 7th with 11.866, respectively. 

Balance Beam – Rose Woo narrowly missed the podium, finishing 4th with a solid score of 12.533. 

Congratulations to the Canadian athletes, coaches, and support staff who attended the successful World Cup in Cairo.
