OTTAWA, ON (August 15, 2023) – Gymnastics Canada (GymCan) proudly celebrates its exceptional performance at the 2023 World Gymnaestrada, reaffirming Canada’s prominent role in the global gymnastics community.

GymCan’s delegation showcased their exceptional talent and passion for gymnastics at the 2023 World Gymnaestrada, which took place from July 30th to August 5th in the picturesque city of Amsterdam. The 2023 World Gymnaestrada, one of the most prestigious events in the gymnastics world, brought together gymnasts, dancers, and athletes from more than 50 countries. Over the course of the week, participants wowed the audience with their exceptional skills, creativity, and passion for the sport. Team Canada proved to be a formidable force, captivating hearts, and minds with their outstanding routines.

Team Canada’s presence was nothing short of remarkable. With a delegation of 670 members, including coaches, gymnasts, managers, and staff, Canada marked its presence among the top 10 largest delegations, displaying its fervent commitment to gymnastics on the world stage.

One of the highlights of Team Canada’s participation was the first documented large group performance composed of 230 participants, a historic moment that will forever be engraved in Canadian Gymnaestrada history.

Additionally, Canada’s captivating performance at the PAGU national evening was a showstopper. Featuring 3 distinct performances and 2 mass choreographies, our gymnasts received applause and garnered international recognition through comprehensive coverage by FIG and PAGU. A special highlight was the participation of the Momentum Aerial and Acrobatic Troupe from Manitoba, who had the honor of performing in the FIG Gala, a testament to their exceptional skill and dedication.

The diversity of Canada’s delegation was another remarkable aspect of their Gymnaestrada journey. With gymnasts ranging from 8 to 76 years old, the team showcased the inclusivity and lifelong appeal of gymnastics.

In a first-time collaboration, GymCan proudly partnered with True Sport, prominently featuring their logo on the official Team Canada gear. 2023 World Gymnaestrada became GymCan’s first Team Canada True Sport declared team. This meaningful partnership emphasized the importance of positive sports experiences and the role each individual plays in fostering a supportive environment.

The success of Team Canada’s participation was made possible through the unwavering support and dedication of their management and medical team.
