Weekend Recap: A Golden Weekend Across the Globe

Ottawa, ON (April 22, 2025) It was an action-packed weekend for our athletes, with standout performances at the Luxembourg Openthe Doha World Cupand the NCAA National Championships.

Luxembourg Open
Team Canada delivered an exceptional performance, clinching the gold medal in the team competition thanks to strong routines from Gabrielle Fausto, Evandra Zlobec, Kahlyn Lawson, and Maddison Hajjar. Individually, Gabrielle Fausto stood out with a silver medal in the all-around, while teammate Evandra Zlobec claimed bronze. Zlobec continued her impressive run with a gold on floor, showcasing dynamic tumbling and elegant presentation. Maddison Hajjar also stepped onto the podium with a bronze on floor and a silver on uneven barsadding to Canada’s medal haul. Gabrielle Fausto added a silver on beam to cap off a dominant showing.

Doha World Cup
At the Doha World Cup, Audrey Rousseau impressed on the international stage, securing a silver medal on floor with her powerful and expressive routine. She also brought home bronze on uneven bars. What a great start to the season for Audrey! 

NCAA National Championships 
The women’s NCAA National Championships were held in Fort Worth, Texas, where several Canadian athletes represented their collegiate teams with pride. Among them was Brooklyn Moors, 2020 Olympian from Cambridge, Ontario, delivered a standout performance by winning the NCAA National Championship Floor titleCompeting for the UCLA Bruins, Moors captivated the audience with her exceptional artistry and musicality.

The men’s championship was hosted at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The University of Michigan clinched the team national championship, marking their seventh title. Evgeny Siminiuc, a member of Canada’s senior national team, played a pivotal role in Michigan’s victory, contributing strong performances across multiple apparatus.​

Additionally, Aidan Li, hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, represented the University of California. Li was the runner-up on pommel horse with a score of 14.466. His performance was instrumental in California’s overall showing at the championships.​
