Ottawa, ON (July 3, 2026) – Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) and Gymnastics Canada (GymCan) are proud to announce the athletes who will represent Team Canada in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, taking place July 23 to August 2, 2026.
This year’s team features a record number of first-time Commonwealth Games athletes.
“Canada arrives in Glasgow with a team that blends world-class experience with exciting new talent,” says Kelly Laframboise, Director, Team Canada 2026. “Whether making their Commonwealth Games debut or returning to compete again, these athletes have earned the opportunity to wear the Maple Leaf. We know they’ll represent Canada with pride and showcase the strength of our gymnastics program.”
Team Highlights
Women’s Artistic Team:
Rising star Lia-Monica Fontaine from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC will make her Commonwealth Games debut after winning two medals at the 2026 Pan American Championships and earning a silver vault medal at the 2025 World Championships.
Four-time Olympian Ellie Black of Halifax, NS will take part in her third Commonwealth Games as Canada’s most accomplished gymnast. She last competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games where she captured three medals, including two gold and one silver.
Gabrielle Black of Milton, ON, Lia Redick of Oakville, ON and Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte of Laval, QC will all be competing in their first Commonwealth Games. All three gymnasts have been major contributors to Team Canada’s international success over the last season. Black, Redick and Guerrier-Calixte where all part of the team that captured the bronze medal in the Team Final at the 2026 Pan American Championships.
Men’s Artistic Team:
The 2026 Men’s Artistic team is led by Félix Dolci of Laval, QC, who is competing in his 2nd Commonwealth Games and finished second in the team competition at the 2022 Birmingham Games.
René Cournoyer, a two-time Olympian from Repentigny, QC, will represent Canada at his second Commonwealth Games after winning team silver at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. He enters the competition following a major contribution to Team Canada’s historic team gold medal at the 2026 Pan American Championships and a fourth-place finish in the all-around.
This team features three first-time Commonwealth Games athletes.
William Émard of Laval, QC, 2026 Pan American Champion on Rings and contributor to Canada’s Team Gold will also represent the country in Glasgow.
Jordan Carroll of Saskatoon, SK was the runner-up on Pommel Horse at the 2026 Pan American Championships and delivered an outstanding qualification routine which ultimately led Canada to its title of Pan American Team Champions.
Ethan Ikeda of Abbotsford, BC, is the least experienced member of this Canadian men’s team, however, has incredible potential to help Canada bring back medals from the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
“It’s an honour to be selected for my third Commonwealth Games team”, said Ellie Black, 4-time Olympian and 6-time Commonwealth Games medalist. “I am excited to compete alongside such a talented group of athletes. The Commonwealth Games are a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience and build confidence as we work towards our future goals for Team Canada. I’m looking forward to proudly wear the maple leaf again at such a fun and special event”.
The Canadian team for Glasgow 2026 is aiming for a total of six medals at these Games, including two gold. The Commonwealth Games will serve as a strategic preparation opportunity for the 2026 World Championships and will be an important milestone for selected up-and-coming gymnasts to have the opportunity to excel in a multisport game’s environment on the road toward LA 2028.
In preparation, some members of this team have competed at the 2026 Pan American Championships and all members will attend a training camp in Montreal at the Institut Nationale du Sport in July 2026, prior to the Games.
The Artistic Gymnastics competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place at The Glasgow International Arena in Glasgow from July 24th-28th, featuring 14 events:
Men’s: Team Competition, All-Around, Floor Exercise, Rings, Pommel Horse, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar
Women’s: Team Competition, All-Around, Floor Exercise, Balance Beam, Vault and Uneven Bars
Glasgow 2026 will include 10 sports, including six Para sports. The Commonwealth Games are the only multi-sport event that feature equal standing for sport and para-sport events. Up to 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories from across the Commonwealth will compete at the 2026 Commonwealth Games over 11 days of competition across the city of Glasgow.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games will bring together 74 nations and territories in a celebration of sport, culture, and community.
